R'KID is a transatlantic fusion of sound and spirit, originating from the rain-soaked streets of the northwest of England and vibrant pulse of New York City. At the heart of the band are Mykel and Trebor, childhood friends from the sleepy town of Skylfell, whose musical journey evolved from back-alley sessions to anthems that resonate far beyond their hometown. Mykel's distinctive vocals, paired with their expertise on keys and guitars, blend seamlessly with Trebor's sharp riffs, creating a sound rooted in British grit and melodic heritage.
Their passion for music led them to NYC, where they connected with Andy Rude, whose bass lines reflect the city's swagger, and Stryker, a dynamic drummer whose rhythms mirror the energy of the metropolis. Special guest Finley, a lead guitarist from somewhere near Liverpool, adds raw, melodic intensity, while Aydee, hailing from Bimini, infuses atmospheric keys, synths and haunting arrangements like the one on “I'm Only Sleeping”.
Discovered by an award-winning producer, R'KID has recently signed with Slightly Def Records and is working on new material at SDR's private studio in an undisclosed tropical locale. More than just a band, R'KID represents the boundless nature of music, crafting songs that capture the essence of late-night city drives, seaside reflections, and the spaces where the past meets the noise of now.
